Fished Bethany Lakes this evening. Brought an old Five Weight Rod and Reel that had been gathering dust in the corner. Used a Foam Grasshopper and caught eleven Bass and a Bluegill!

Worked the Grasshopper using short but fast pulls on the fly line. Looked for any wakes that the Bass were making while chasing bait fish (or each other).

Lots of fun especially the top water strikes as fishing fly “splashed” along the surface!

  1. Hi, great videos. I have a few questions, I'm new to TX and looking for a few honeyholes to fish. Bethany Lakes appears to be a good one from the videos I've seen from you. I have a few questions. Is this a private fishing area? Do you have to have a license to fish here? And, is this a catch and release fishing area only? Thanks for your time.

    1. Hi Careal –
Thanks for checking out the videos and our website! Bethany Lakes is open to the public, a fishing license is required, and it is a catch and release area with exception of the Rainbow Trout that are stocked in in the Winter.

Hope this helps and Good Luck and Good Fishing!
