Testing a Damsel Fly Variant

By / April 5, 2016 / Fishing

Headed to Kroger Park again this evening to test a Damsel Fly Variant. This one uses sparkle braid for the tail and foam and grizzly hackle for the body.

Went with a size 12 instead of a size 10 and got better hookup rates compared to yesterday’s size 10 we used.

Caught several nice looking Bruiser Bluegill. Also, had to deal with lots of wind, luckily the wind was in our favor in some places – casting with a strong tailwind gets some nice long distance casts!

Overall, liked this variant!
