Trinity River Fly Fishing with the MaxCatch 2wt Fly Rod? #switchrod #flyfishing #trinityriver

By / September 23, 2020 / Fishing

Was in Fort Worth Sunday, fly fishing under a bridge on the the Trinity River. It was just down the street from the Fort Worth Zoo. Used the 2wt Discount Switch Rod aka the MaxCatch Fly Rod with Orvis SL1 Fly Reel and Rio Trout Max Skagit Head.

Great combo when fishing under the bridge; was able to get the fishing fly where needed with minimal false casting. Mainly caught Bluegill and Sunfish as well as some Longear, but did get a couple a Bass, too – a small fingerling and another that went about 12 inches.

All went for a White Damsel Fly fished wit varying retrieves. Do check it out!

I tried winter stocked trout fishing last year, just before the first COVID lockdown. Thanks to you, the Rig #1 I learned from you, which I used with Berkeley PowerBait, in the small community pond in my hometown of Waxahachie, I limited out on my first outing with that rig! A few more trips before they locked us down resulted in more limits and near-limits. I still have about 20 cleaned trout in my freezer. Heading out for my first trip this winter, later this week. THANK YOU and God bless

Thanks Linda R! Always great to hear from our Readers… especially, when they catch a fish or two using tips we suggested. Even more nice hearing you limited out in Waxahachie! Good luck on your next trip, and do keep in touch.
Take care and God Bless.
