Turner Falls Park Trout Fishing #troutfishing

By / November 9, 2017 / Fishing

Saw the post on Facebook that Turner Falls is stocking trout soon! Great place to have fun and catch a trout or two! Depending on where they stock, can be dealing with lots of trees and things to hinder our a back cast when fly fishing or can be free in clear to cast with little chance of fouling the line! Below are videos to give an idea what to anticipate when fishing Turner Falls.

Here is a video when the we fished Turner Falls when they stocked above the waterfall.

Nice looking water and trout, Glenn. If you have problems with trees fouling your back cast when fly fishing, use a roll cast. Many of the places that I fish are overgrown and I use a roll cast most of the time. It gives enough distance for most situations.

Steve.

Thanks Steve! Roll cast works great for me too. Even better now with the OPST Commando Head and Lazar Line that I put on the 5wt. Longer casts with less effort and no backcast needed. Works with roll cast, switch cast, and the modified one-handed spey casts. Still learning how to use this setup but so far it has been nice on the Blue River. Hope to try it out at Turner Falls this Season.

Take care and always great to hear from you in OZ!

I use a double taper line or even a level line if I know I’m going to be roll casting a lot. I can get better distance than with a weight forward line. I looked up that Commando Head line and that looks pretty interesting. I doubt that it is available here in OZ!
Cheers,
Steve.
